The Holy Scriptures alone are our final and infallible authority. We fully subscribe to the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689) as a faithful, subordinate summary of what Scripture teaches.
The Holy Scriptures
The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, sufficient, certain and infallible Word of God. We use the King James Version in the public ministry of the church.
The living and true God
There is one living and true God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Ghost—equal in divine essence, power and eternity.
Man and sin
Man was created in the image of God, but through Adam’s fall all mankind became guilty and corrupted by sin, unable to save themselves.
Jesus Christ and salvation
The eternal Son became truly man without ceasing to be God. By His perfect obedience, atoning death and bodily resurrection, He accomplished salvation for His people. Sinners are called to repent and believe; justification is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
The church and ordinances
A local church is a gathered congregation of professing believers under Christ and His Word, with elders and deacons as its officers. Baptism is for those who profess repentance and faith and is administered by immersion; the Lord’s Supper is observed in remembrance of Christ.
Worship and the Lord’s Day
The acceptable way of worshipping God is appointed by Him and limited by His revealed will. We therefore gather on the Lord’s Day for the reading, preaching and hearing of Scripture, prayer, congregational singing and the ordinances, with understanding, faith and reverence.
The Christian hope
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. The dead will be raised, all will stand before God in judgment, and Christ’s people will be with Him for ever.
Confessional fellowship
Stanley Park Church is a founding member of the Association of Confessional Baptist Churches (ACBC) UK. The association brings independent churches together around full subscription to the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), for their peace, increase of love and mutual edification.
